Oahu Activities | HALO Jumping
HALO Jumping is an extreme form of skydiving, and this Oahu Activity is a perfect choice for those who want an adventure.
For those who want an extreme Oahu Activity, this Honolulu Thing to Do is a thrilling choice.
About HALO Jumping:
HALO Jumping is an extreme form of skydiving that includes higher altitudes and a longer freefall. While a typical skydiving experience would bring you to altitudes of 8,000 to 15,000 feet, HALO Jumping involves heights of 22,000 feet and up.
HALO stands for high altitude, low opening. The high altitude part is easy to understand. Low opening is because you don’t open your chute until you are lower to the ground resulting in a longer freefall.
Those who follow extreme skydiving know that Felix Baumgartner jumped from 128,000 feet smashing all sorts of records that will likely stand for years. While nothing quite that extreme is offered on Oahu (or anywhere else for that matter!), you can try HALO jumping from 22,000 feet, which is still impressive.
Because the air is thin at such altitudes, you will have to wear an oxygen mask. When you reach the correct altitude you’ll exit the plane and begin the freefall. While the basics are the same as standard skydiving, there are a few things to know if you want to take part in this Oahu Activity.
- A doctor’s certificate is required
- Men must be clean shaven
- The briefing/training is longer than for standard skydiving
One of the skydiving operators that offer HALO Jumping is Pacific Skydiving (808.637.7472). Of course the views are amazing, and it will all be captured in photos and on video as part of your Extreme Skydiving Adventure at Pacific Skydiving.
